Jilted Coquette REVIEW!

Well. It's review-time! And Jilted Coquette is on the list to day!
Jilted Coquette is an Etsy-based webshop filled with handmade lolita-esque (and other styles) goods, mainly jewellery. Sweets, fancy classic things and lovely gothic stuffs! I purchased a red and white cameo necklace.

Shop-link: Jilted Coquette on Etsy
Product-link: Handmade Alice Red and White Rabbit Cameo Necklace
Facebook-page: Jilted Coquette on FB!
Feedback-page: Here!

Do check out the FB-page! Great deals, give-aways and news about the shop is there :D

Short time-line:
Feb. 27 - Purchased the product.
(Unknown) Just some days later anyways - Got a confirmation email that the item was shipped!
Mars 9 - Got the product in my mailbox

-Shipping-
Was great! Fast and secure.

Now, onto what happened when I got it!

Well. On the 9th of March, my birthday it arrived in my mailbox! The necklace's meant as as a birthday present for me. But we didn't except it to come on my birthday. But! It came on my freakin birthday! That's just amazing xD I was so excited, and ran in to the house laughing and flying around in white flyffy clouds. Just look at that violet! It's me :D
-Package-
Very, very, veryyyyyy well done! Secure and super-fancy!

When you opened the bow this fancy thing was in! A plastic bag with hearts on. In the plastic bag was lots of red paper, and a cute letter! :D

And for the letter! A lovely real seal with a rose-stamp! That's so lovely :D

When you opened the plastic bag and the red paper this was in! OMG. An absolutely adorable presentpaper-wrapped thingie! The present-paper has lovely flower print and it's shiny *_* And the huge flower-ribbon thingie! I really felt like I was in heaven, and so special :3 The package was very neatly and smart folded. And was taped by double-tape! I said to my mum that "My other birthday gifts can throw 'em self in the wall as for packaging/wrapping (and content)!"

I carefully opened up the present. And there was a hard cardboard box securely taped. I opened it. And yayness! My necklace, and the free gift !! If I was in heaved before, I've must been by Mars now! I was totally blown away! The goods where between two soft rectangular "pads". And the samll parts wrapped in red paper.

TE BUNNEH. Yes. It's kick-ass. Sparkly, fancy and so loooooovely :D The rabbit is her own original artwork and the wine-red "frame" has four iridescent Swarovski crystal accents. It's even more beautiful in IRL. But the photos on the product-page is very true. The quality is good and the colours very neat.

The heart-fruit and pearl thingie. It's meant to be "under"/"after" the rabbit cameo. See here.
Really cute. The pearl is okay quality too. My only "complaint" (it isn't really a complaint xD). But the little ring the pearl and heart is attached to doesn't feel so secure to put on. It could work indeed, but it fell of even after we secured it. So mum's going to change that out to another easily. She's working with silver-jewellery-something on a course so yep.

The chain. I really like the chain, good quality and neat. Here's my second and last "complaint". The long shaped thingie to the left is supposed to be attached to the rabbit cameo. It's hard to describe it. But it doesn't close fully. Yes, you could use that. But I'm a girl who runs around and I don't want to loose the beauty so I'll jsut re-place the lock with a normal one simply :) And the Jilted Coquette ribbon looked so professional!

The free gift! Very cute! A glittery cookie-ish heart with "Jilted Coquette" all over it. With a cute pearl and a heart-lock attached to it. I also really love the cute ribbon bow. This'll definitely be on my bag/used as a necklace or something! Really sweet gift!

The card and businesses-card. Both are hand-written. The cards is really pretty in looks too! The note in the little card was soo sweet! I was in tears.. She wished me a happy birthday and that all my birthday-wishes will come true ♥! Oh lord that's so kind! On the business-card I got a 10% off coupon code on my next order! That's so nice :D

Conclusion: I'm overly happy with everything, service, packaging, note, product, etc. I'd definitely recommend Jilted Coquette to anyone! It was the best birthday present I got, and the best wrapped one, and the sweetest one!

So please go and check out Jilted Coquette's shop and Facebook! I'm sure you'll find something you love there.

Love!

IT'S MY BIRTHDAY :D

I'm sick, but it doesn't matter. Because I can't stop smiling :D
Now I'm 14 uears old, oh my!

I'm stressed out, pressed and tired. But'll show you some awesome gift I got in Lolita-way.

Criss-cross over-knee socks från Innocent World! I love them to death. They're just so cute :3

An IW tote-bag! With glimmering and sparkling forest animal print. Rabbit :D

GLB vol 38 :D

And probably the best thing! A totally mind-blowing necklace from Jilted Coquette. It was in my mailbox! What a timing! It was meant as a b-day gift but unknown arrival date. And it arrives at my b-day! And gosh it's lovely. She's such a sweetie :D And the free gift was cute too :3 I'll write a review ASAP!

I was totally OMG!OMG! *goes high over heels and jumps on fluffy clouds*

Take care!

What's Lolita fashion?

Mana, fashion icon and owner of Moi-Meme-Moitie. He wears "Divine Cross".

So what the heck is Lolita fashion, you may ask. Here's the answer.
Lolita fashion is a street fashion from Japan. Inspired by the Rococo and Victorian era, as well as the 50's. The silhouette is probably the most important thing in Lolita. The fitted bodice, and a knee-length (can also be tea-part length - around mid-calves) skirt that flares out at the waist or under the bust. Lace, ruffles and prints are common in Lolita.

The fashion has nothing to do with Vladimir Nabokov's book. Lolita fashion is more the opposite, elegant, modest rather than sexy and skanky.

There are different sub-styles of the fashion such as:
Sweet Lolita - Sweet! Often very OverTheTop with sugary bunnies and cakes all over the place!
Classic Lolita - Stylish, elegant and refined. Flower prints, elegant deep jewel tones are commonly used.
Gothic Lolita - Black, deep jewel tones, gates, crucifixes and oh my!
And much more, this is just the 3 big styles.

My upcoming birthday, blog updates & more!

Hello, dear ruffle butts! Sorry for the poor updating here. I've been stressed out with school and other personal stuff. Today, I'm sick. My brother and mum was ill last week, and now I have the same disease T__T

Anyhow, I thought I'd just give a little small update on what's upcoming!
First off, next week on the 9th of March is my 14th birthday. :D
For my birthday we ordered some lolita stuffs. Sadly, I bet non of them will arrive for that date. Including:

- Malco Modes 582 petticoat, from Candy Violet - Vivcore where it's named "Fluffy Petticoat". Yep, the oh-so famous chiffon petti!

- Some goods from Innocent World. Sadly, we pay for a beautiful JSK that was one sale, but it sold out, same with the OP model of the print :(

- Necklace from the lovely Jilted Coquette . An Etsy based shops filled with Lolita accessories and much more. I'm super-excited about this! We ordered a gorgeous rabbit cameo necklace *_*

And that's about some rori goodies. Now onto the blog!

This weekend I'm planning to set-up a "Lolita?" page with just quick information about the fashion and some various links. And maybe a "contact" page. More little changes will also pop-up!

Some teasing about upcoming entries:

- Lolita Sewing 101.

- The second part of "Being a young Lolita" -series. Check out the first one here.

- Some sewing projects I haven't showed.

- As fast when the petti and the necklace arrive I'll write reviews of them!

Have a great day and I'll see you next time. :D

Mainstream Fashion goes frilly - this season!

Yep, this spring. The hot trend on the runway and in the spring collection is frilly! Or, more vintage-inspired, to say. Ruffles, lace and bows are all over the place! And ofc, this should all Lolitas know (Because, most of us enjoy frilly things). Not just that mainstream fashion shops such as H&M are awesome for Lolita, but this season it'll be even better!

So, I figured out that I'd share some frilly finds from my favourite mainstream shop The Oh-so-epic H&M! But, I suggest you to go out to whatever high fashion shop you like and hunt down some frills. It's great time for this now, the shops are starting to release their spring collections.

Well. Let's get started with the H&M goodies! If you click on the picture of the garment you'll be taken to the Swedish product page. So if you're not in Sweden, just go ahead and change the language.

Tanktop/cami-top with cute lace on the neckline.
Lovely with a skirt for a summery and cute look. Loads of colours available!

A adorable top with super-cute bows around the neckline.
Would work best with a skirt, or maybe a under-bust JSK? In a good variety of colours too.

Lovely cardigan. I own this myself, and the ruffles are just sooo pretty!
Just comes in some colours, sadly.

A neat top with lacy ruffles around the shoulders. Would be pretty with a JSK or a skirt.
Comes in a variety of colours such as black, white, light blue too.

A sailor and "on a beach in Paris" -esque top. This would be perfect for a sailor ensemble or a chic one!
Comes in a variety of colours, but the navy blue is probably essential for sailor lolita.

A lacy, ruffly and romantic loose fitting blouse. Because of the loose fitting,
it's probably better for a Dolly or Mori -kei esque ensemble. It comes in white as well.

Those are just some of the frilly things at H&M. Some of the tops are quite long, and would be even more perfect if you just cut the bottom. Also most of them have a deep neck line, and it's probably to much cleavage for Lolita. But, if you wear something over or under to hide it, your good to go. Maybe even sew a panel?

Another trend in the high-street shops that many Lolitas enjoy is Cameos! Cameo ring, earrings, necklaces, and brooches.

A pair of cameo-earrings I transformed to brooches and a necklace.
Found at Lindex a while ago.

Conclusion: Vintage-y with frills, lace, ruffles and the whole romantic look is THE trend in mainstream fashion this Spring! And that cameos also are popular. So go out and hunt down your favourites now.

Do you have any faves? Frilly finds? Lolita-esque trends in high fashion (mainstream)?

Until next time, have a great day and never underestimate high-street shops such as H&M in Lolita way!

Valentine's day and a freezing storm

This will be a very short entry. I just wanted to wish you all a lovely Valentine's day!
I hope you'll enjoy some chocolate and share this day with someone you fancy. :3

I also just wanted to tell a friendly reminder to myself and you guys;
DON'T WEAR TIGHTS WITH "HOLES" IN THEM WHEN IT'S FREAKIN COLD.
On Mondays and Fridays I have to bike 2km. So, I wore lolita and tights, ofc. It's stormy, cold, and heck I froze when I biked!
Bike+2km+STORM+tight swith little holes in them+ small road + freezing cold= *Dead Viola*
Otherwise my Valentine's Day haven't been anything special really.

So how has yours been? Or do you have any horrid bike stories to share?
Love

New pretty second-hand finds!

Hello ruffles! I hope you have a great weekend, and a lot of time to lolita :D
Today I thought I'd share my new second-hand finds. I've been at "Erikshjälpen" (The Erik's Help in English) and "Myrorna" (The Ants) which is pretty much second-hand shops. Where you can find anything and everything. I was on Erikshjälpen a week ago or so, and yesterday was on Myrornas gigantic shop in Malmö.

So here's the goodies I found:

5 things I found.

Detail pic of the blouse. See the little dots?
  1. H&M transparent dotted blouse. Pure awesomeness! Of coerce you need to wear something under or over it, because it's all see-through. You can tie a neat bow at the collar too, how rori isn't that? This will deferentially be a blouse under my JSK's, or paired with a top under it and a skirt. It can even be a summery and funky bolero! I'm really happy with this one, lol. It just makes me happy to see it -odd, funky and funny. Love to H&M! Found at Myorna.
  2. Red glossy shoulder bag.  Oh, red! Not much to say more than it's so lovely. I'm a  big fan of colourful things, and this prettiness caught my eyes directly. Also from Myrorna!
  3. Off-white turtle-neck shirt. I've been searching for a turtle-neck shirt in off-white for a long time. So I'm very glad I found it. Turtle-neck is perfect for wearing under a JSK, or over a blouse with a skirt. And I really love how it looks with JSKs! Found at Erikshjälpen.
  4. Off-white v-neck t-shirt. More off-whiteness! Just a plain t-shirt. Perfect for loli-fy it to a nice cut-sew. Maybe some nice lace, or a ruffle? Myrorna.
  5. Flower brooch. A pretty, romantic and classic brooch with swirls and a flower. Nice as a classic accessory, I guess. I also found this at Myrornas. See the picture below to actually see it xD

The pretty brooch.

So, what do you think of second-hand? Thrifting? What's your best second-hand find?
Never forget that second-hand is great for finding cheap, unique and nice things!

Being a Young Lolita pt1 - Parents

Dressing in Lolita isn't always easy, to small/big clothes, no time to wear it, expensive and so on. But for a young Lolita, everything seems to be a little harder at the first glance. But when you've “defeated” the problems – it's very rewarding. The reward is simply expressing your self in those frills, with out being scared of parents, friends and sizes. Those problems will pop-up sometimes, and there isn't always a fix.

But in this serie I will talk about tips and ideas how to defeat those problems.

Everyone are more than welcome to read this, but the target is the young ones.

So in this very first post in this serie, “Being a Young Lolita” the subject is the feared one, the loved one, - Parents. For a young girl/boy who wants to start dressing in frills, parents is a key factor. They (or he/she) are responsible for you, money and so on. And convincing your parents to let you wear Lolita isn't always easy.

Don't show OTT-coords at first! Take it step by step instead.

Don't show OTT-pictures when you first introduce lolita. Take it step by step, instead!
  • Tell them. In some way you must. If you don't have the courage to speak with them face to face, calling, texting or even e-mailing can be great options. I texted my mother actually , I'm very shy and can't stand do it face to face!

  • If you're scared about that they know Lolita as the “other Lolita”, say it's “a street-fashion from Japan”. Or simply ask them “Does the term Lolita says something to you?” before you tell them. If they say something like “Not really, I think it's a  cheese from France” you're good to go. Or if they say something about the book, either say “a street-fashion from Japan” or “That the Lolita-fashion is a fashion from Japan which is about dressing modesty and cute, and...”

  • Show them pictures – but not the OTT (Over The Top) coords first. Take it step by step. Think as if you were in their roll. Wouldn't you be chocked or maybe terrified at first if your daughter showed you a full blown AP coord, or something? Start out with simple and casual ones, then go fancier and fancier!

  • Don't crave them to buy that brand new 27,090 ¥ dress from *insert brand name*. Because that'd be kind of ridiculous. If you want a special print, or brand item, look at the egl_comm_sales or when the brand has sale.

  • If they don't let you wear Lolita. Ask them why. If they don't think you can wear skirts so often, or even use a rori garment -prove it! From now on, wear skirts often, put that bow on, lady!

Last, but not least. Be true to them. Involve them in the fashion! Show them brand/non brand sites, information sites (Such as lolitafashions.org).

Have a great time, and remember that parents can be a pain sometimes! And the next part of this series is Buying & Making – so it fits you.
